I'm giving away 10 chiptune (8-bit) music tracks for FREE to game developers to use in their video games.

Description

These are well-suited for fantasy and/or medieval video games that may want a retro-vibe and/or use pixel art. They were inspired by JRPGs and adventure video games from the 1980s and 1990s on the NES and SNES.

How to Use the Tracks

These are my original compositions. You are welcomed to use these tracks in any desired ways in your video games, without cost or permission. The only thing that I would ask is for you to give credit where it is due by mentioning by name, François Gérin-Lajoie. Thank you! And if you want, you could also mention which tracks you used in which game in the "comments" section below.

Let's Help Each Other Out! If you enjoy this asset pack, would you be so kind to rate it please? It will give it more visibility. Thank you!

If you enjoy my music, be sure to visit my YouTube channel and subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/@Francois_Gerin-Lajoie.

If you would like to commission me to write music for your game, contact me and I would be more than happy to do so : oragus2@yahoo.com.

Once again, you've put out some wonderful tracks!

I'm rather curious now, some of the tracks have rather specific titles, such as "Liora, the Orphan girl in the Forest", or "Stormwind, the Self-Reliant Airship Captain" (the latter which you even have some pixel-art for).  Is there any meaning behind this, like a source of inspiration, or perhaps something related to another project?

Thanks for your feedback!  Good question too.  I wanted to write thematic material for characters instead of places and moods for once.  I imagined those characters and gave them characteristics and backstories, but nothing too deep.  They are more or less archetypes from JPRGs.  Then I let ChatGPT generate a name and a title based on my description, and Copilot generate the image, like I always do.  And then I wrote the music based on the ideas I had, the image and the title.  There's two more chiptune characters coming out in my next asset pack, and I'm also working on a series of orchestral compositions based on imagined characters with a collaborator.
